FAQ: What is the MHOSA Match System? The MHOSA Match System is a new and exciting way of ranking drivers and creating competitive driver divisions called "Triads". What is
the advantage of the MHOSA Match System? Drivers will have more
chances
to win in similarly matched driver threesomes called "Triads."
These Triads will be reorganized frequently based on driver race
results to keep it interesting.
![]() How is
MHOSA Match League organized?
MHOSA Match System will be divided into Leagues. Beginning in the
Fall 2004 season there will be two
Leagues: Major League and Minor League.
Each League will be divided into at
least four
Triads in descending order: Red,
White,
Blue, and Yellow. Normally, a Triad will consist of three
similarly matched racers.
The top Triad in the Major League will have two racers because there is
no
higher Triad for advancement. A racer's overall ranking will be
described by "Blue Major",
"White Minor", etc. Additional Triads will
be added to the Minor League if necessary.
What if
I am a beginner? Beginners and less experienced racers, as
determined by MHOSA, will be grouped in a Rookie
"Farm" division all
their own. Rookies will compete only against Rookies and advance
into the Minor League after a succesfull season. No drivers will ever be demoted to the
Rookie Farm.
What if I don't race often? Experienced yet infrequent, out of town, or returning racers will be Free Agents. Free Agents may be ranked according to ability at the beginning of a season, or may never be ranked at all. How are
drivers ranked? Ranking will be determined at the end of
each Match season according to
regular MHOSA
championship points scoring system. - A racer that scores higher than both the other racers in the same Triad, will be promoted one Triad. - A racer that fails to out-score a fellow Triad racer will be demoted one Triad. - The 'middle' racer remains in the Triad for another Match season. - No racers will be promoted/demoted more than one Triad per season. Note: this "automatic sorting system" will redefine each Triad so that each racer will have new opponents with similar skill levels every season. What
about Lite vs. Premier? The Match system replaces the
Lite/Premier system. The Match system more accurately and more
frequently matches drivers of similar skill level thereby doing away
with the need for Lite/Premier skill groups and special car class
rules. Rookies will be allowed to race "Extreme" class cars.
Is there
still a Championship? Yes. MHOSA championship points
will be
awarded each race. Championship points will be used to determine
promotions and demotions. Championship points will be awarded in
both the Major League and Minor League.
MHOSA will declare a Minor League and Major League Champion each
season. It is possible to win a League Championship from any
Triad. Rookie championships will be recognized. Free Agents
will get "duplicate" championship points for ranking purposes, but can
not win a
Championship. What kind of
awards will there be? A trophy will be awarded to every driver
who is promoted to a particular Triad for the first time. A
Championship
trophy will be awarded to the Minor League Champ. Drivers will
not recieve more than one trophy per Match season, i.e. a driver who
wins the the Minor League championship will not also recieve a trophy
for reaching a new Triad. Match System ranking and Triad
